Starting in 2026, universal screening will be mandatory across Manitoba. This monthly virtual PD series is here to support educators through that transition. Registration is $50 for the full 9-session series, which works out to just over $5 per session. Co-hosted by the Manitoba Reading Association and the Manitoba Council of Reading Clinicians these sessions will explore everything from logistics—how to organize, schedule, and manage screening—to turning data into action by using results to guide small-group instruction and next steps. Our goal is to foster supportive, non-judgmental dialogue and to share tools, tips, and resources that make this work doable and meaningful in real classrooms.
All sessions take place on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:45 PM (CST).
Timing The Zoom waiting room will open 15 minutes before the session begins. Please plan to log in between 4:15–4:25 p.m. so you’re settled and ready to go. While we finish setting up, screens and mics will remain off until the session starts. We’ll begin promptly at 4:30 p.m.
Extra discussion time The formal session will wrap up at 5:45 p.m., but we’ll keep the Zoom room open until 6:00 p.m. for anyone who would like to stay behind to ask further questions or continue the conversation.
Shared resources We’ve created a shared Google folder where we’ll post session resources.
Recording policy Please note that we will not be recording the sessions. We want everyone to feel comfortable sharing openly, and we’ve found that recording can sometimes get in the way of that. Instead, within one week of each session, we will upload the presentation slides along with notes to the shared folder. This way, you’ll have access to the key information while preserving the collaborative, safe nature of our discussions.
